A Baker's Odyssey: Celebrating Time-Honored Recipes from America's Rich Immigrant Heritage Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day: The Discovery That Revolutionizes Home Baking
by Jeff Hertzberg & Zoe Francois

By far my baking book of the year. The recipes will amaze you (why didn’t I figure this out years ago?). No kneading and very little prep (5 mins or so of measuring and handmixing). The “work” comes only with shaping and time only for getting the dough back to room temperature and the oven preheated. Perhaps not Artisan bread but results will have your family and guests oohing. A great book for those who have failed in bread making before. Highly, highly recommended. Try the Epi recipe as dinner rolls!Buy-from amazon button

Sergio Esposito, co-owner of NYC's Italian Wine Merchants wine store, writes this entertaining memoir, sharing the highlights of his journey from Italy to America and his frequent trips back. Jane grigson Charcuterie and French Pork Cookery originally published in 1969
Charcuterie & French Pork Cookery
by Jane Grigson

F&B Library Essential
Out-of-print since 1969, this quintessential charcuterie and pork reference should be in your library. It was one of the books referred to when I took Curing a Pig in a Day at Ballymaloe's Cooking School. If you are serious at all about Pork and Charcuterie you must own it.

Food and Wine Pairing : A Sensory Experience
We are surprised with the depth and format of Food and Wine Pairing: A Sensory Experience by Robert J. Harrington.
It could almost be called a workbook of food & wine pairing. The book features lots of charts and worksheets for tasting and tasting experiments, as well as recipes. You could learn a lot about wine pairing by working through the material offered and might be great fun for a tasting group.

Welcome to
Fork & Bottle
Fork & Bottle focuses on our love of food, especially wine and cheese. We are picky about where our food comes from, how it tastes and how sustainable it is. We are always hunting for great, real food – not the stuff found in big supermarkets and chain restaurants. We care about what we eat.

Fork & Bottle also covers organic gardening, cooking with kids and our explorations of Napa Valley/Sonoma County wine country. We welcome your feedback.

New Restaurant Reviews

 • Dry Creek Kitchen in Healdsburg is Charlie Palmer's Sonoma County outpost. Probably the most elegant outdoor lunch in the area.

 • Rosso Pizzeria & Wine Bar in Santa Rosa has become our casual restaurant of choice. The food is always good to excellent, and there is a wonderful emphasis on local and sustainable ingredients. Bonus: The wine list features affordable organic and biodynamic wines. *Updated*
