Tasting Notes - June 2, 2008 - Joanne and Jack Jack's comments: What can be said? The 1989 Château de Beaucastel rocked (and two days later sold for $238/btl) and was very clearly the wine of the night. The Bordeaux weren't exciting me, except for the 1985 Lynch Bages, which was showing very well. I also found the 1998 Bois de Boursan CdP Cuvée Felix quite appealing, but others weren't as enthusiastic.

4+	2002 J.L. Chave Hermitage (blanc)	Closed nose. Minerally, not oaky, with a bright, hard center. (Some that this bottle was atypical.)
2	2001 Château Rieussec Sauternes	Nose screams sugar and honeyed apricot. Center is apricot and ginger with candied ginger on the finish. Some acids.
3	2003 Château Rieussec Sauternes	More syrupy than '01. More honey and fewer acids. Doesn't have the ginger element.
2-3+	1996 Pernin-Rossin Nuits St. George La Richermone	Nose of roses and roasted meat. Char & BBQ meat in center. Shorter finish.
4+	1997 D. Mortet Gevrey Chambertin Au Velle	Minerally nose with rubber. Harder minerally center with hard fruit.
3?	1990 Mommessin Clos de Tart	Meaty irony nose, bright cherry and slightly biting acids. Shorter finish.
2-3+	1995 Thomas-Moillard Romanee St. Vivant	Nose of spice and mineral. Softer and slight spicy center. Soft finish.
2-3	1999 Martinelli Pinot Noir Three Colts	Bright white pepper on nose. Good fruit/acid but a sweet finish.
	1966 Château Lafite Rothschild	Slightly off? Musty cellar-y nose, which shows also lightly on finish.
3	1975 Château Clinet	Crushed cooked raspberry and leather on nose. Bright center with some bright acids. Long finish.
3?	1978 Château Leoville Las Cases	Super sweet red currant on nose. Showing oxidation. Milky caramel finish.
3	1979 Château Ducru Beaucaillou	Tight nose. Powdery minerally center with good acids. Long finish.
3?	1981 Château Lafite Rothschild	Slightly green pepper and herbal nose. Hard, interesting herbal center. The finish is slightly dry with good acids.
2-3+?	1982 Domaine de Chevalier	Wet limestone and fruit tart red fruit. Tart currant center. Good acids.
4+	1985 Château Lynch Bages	Nose of roses. Very bell peppery center. Bright acids, good fruit.
3+	1986 Château Prieure Lichine	Lots of limestone and mineral. Tight fruit with a slightly dry, long finish.
2-3	1986 Château Leoville Barton	BBQ and roses on nose. Very tight dry center and finish with some good acids. Slightly sour.
3?	1988 Château Gruard Larose	Lightly floral nose. Medicinal center with bright dry fruit.
2-3+	1988 Château Talbot	Chewy, acidic, black and red fruit. Tight, minerally center. Slightly powdery finish with good acids.

3+	1995 Château Pavie	Meaty, jammy nose. Irony center, slight powdery finish with good acids.

	2004 Philip Togni Cabernet Sauvignon	Very jammy nose. Slightly bell pepper. Lots of fruit.
2-4?	1970 Heitz Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley	Char and ash on nose. BBQ eggplant. Lots of acids.
3?	1994 Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon Estate	Black fruit on nose. Good fruit/acids. Tight center long finish.
2-3?	1994 Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve	Lots of fruit on nose but lean center with a slightly watery finish.
3+	1997 Beringer Cabernet Sauvignon Tre Colline Vyd	Mesquite and jam on nose. Extracted tannic center.
3-4	1993 Beringer Merlot Bancroft Ranch	Lightly powdery red fruit on nose. Slight extracted intense red fruit and dry center. Definite element of orange juice/orange rind on finish.
6-9	1989 Château de Beaucastel CdP	Lightly floral, medicinal charred meat center. Dry tannic finish. Lots of fruit/acid.

4?	1998 D'Arenberg Shiraz Dead Arm	Minerally BBQ char on nose. Slightly woody but antique rose floral center with lots of acid.
2-3	2003 Bodegas Aalto P.S.	Intensely extracted woody center with leather and vanilla.
2+	2003 Mas Doix Costers de Vinyes Velles	Vanilla bean on nose. Jammy center. Good acids.
